About the Course:

    The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills in Coconut production. It aims to provide guidance and promote participants' further understanding on  the technical know-how on the recommended agricultural practices for Coconut production. It also aims to promote participant’s appreciation on the importance of Coconut as a primary  agricultural product here in the Philippines. Having this in mind, it offers an introduction and overview of the four stages of Coconut production. This multi-stage process involves nursery  management, plantation establishment, management of bearing palms, and harvesting & post-harvest handling. Also, an in-depth look on the detailed table of the basic traits of  coconut varieties and PCA-recommended hybrids for evidence-based and technically sound decisions in choosing the varieties for planting. This course was developed through the  program Smart Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry (SARAI) Phase 2 Project 1.2 Phenology Studies, Crop Management and Model Development for Sugarcane  and Coconut.
