About the Course:
There are different factors that need to be considered to improve banana production such as soil type, timing and rate of fertilizer application, special management practices for banana, and close monitoring of its growth phases, among others. Some farmers are not used to these cultural management practices as they perceive banana as a crop that grows easily, multiplies, and bears fruit with minimum supervision. However, sticking to the conventional ways of banana production despite good initial harvest leads to bunch and fruit quality deterioration in the long run. To prevent these instances and to further develop a more profitable banana farms, it is imperative to equip ourselves to a science-based and data driven knowledge on the recommended practices for banana production. This course was developed through the studies conducted by Project 1.4 of the Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines Phase 2.
