The training provided basic information on the concepts, methods, and applications of S&T-based Falcata farming, covering advanced tree seed technology, nursery and plantation establishment and management. Additionally, it provided information on the identification of pest and diseases and its management as well as regulation/policies related to ITP.

The participants received hands-on training from resource speakers. The five-day training included a series of lectures and hands-on/fieldwork activities. Each day, participants applied the concepts shared during the morning lectures through fieldwork activities conducted after each topic. The lectures were held at the Tree Farmers Training Hub of FWRDEC, while fieldwork activities such as hands-on pruning/thinning, tree grading, pest identification, and observation were conducted at the Falcata plantation within the FWRDEC Experimental Forest and the Arboretum of CENRO Bislig. Hands-on training related to nursery management was conducted at the FWRDEC facility. The insects/pests collected in the field were analyzed at the venue, and the analysis was done in groups. After each fieldwork session, participants were given time to discuss their results on data analysis and interpretation with their groupmates.

A pre-test was administered before the lectures to measure the participants' level of knowledge. The participants were divided into groups to encourage participation during exercises and hands-on activities.

The training-workshop is for Local Government Unites, selected Peoples Organizations, and Private Tree Farmers engaged in establishing and managing Industrial Tree Plantations. It will provide a venue to have a much deeper understanding about the basic concepts, methods, and applications of S&T-based tree farming from advanced tree seed technology to nursery and plantation establishment, and management. An action plan will be developed that contains the activities and stategies to be undertaken by the farmers on how they will apply and share their learning. It will also serve as basis in monitoring and tracking the progress of the activities after the completion of the training. A total of 25 participants will be accommodated in this training course.
